A Brilliant Way To Use Two Different Sound Sets Together!

You’ve got some VSL Instruments…And you’ve also got some EWQL instruments, and you’re sitting there thinking!

‘Can I use them together at the same time in one Sibelius score using two sound sets?’…Boom..what a question…Let’s find out!

I’ve set up a test score, using a Flute From East-West Quantum Leaps Symphonic Orchestra, and a Solo Violin From VSL Solo Violin 1 Library.

I downloaded the Sound Set for EWQL from the Sound Set Projects website. The Sound Set for the VSL Solo Violin comes free and is available to download from your ‘My VSL’ area of their website, once you’ve bought some of their instruments.

Playback Config

I’ll set up a playback Configuration, with both Sound Sets.

I’m not using VE Ensemble to host the playback. It’s all done directly in Sibelius.

Both Sample Players open and work perfectly! Play on the Left and Vienna Instruments Pro on the right.

Everything seems really stable too!

set up score

It all works really well using the EWQL House Style!

The Dynamics for the VSL instruments may need to be tweaked..but there’s a brilliant plugin for that, and I’ll show you that too!

Know what!…you can get some really…really good results!

Boom..there you go! two different sound sets are completely doable!

I have to say that I’m really impressed with this, as I wasn’t expecting to be able to use two sound sets from two different sample manufactures in the same score!.. it’s amazing really!

Even more so if you consider that the VSL instruments aren’t using the correct House Style, so in theory..it shouldn’t work at all!

Given the fact that you can still adjust things with the Graphical Midi Tools plugin so you can sort out any dynamic issues is wonderful, and I’m definitely going to explore the possibilities of using more than one sound set in the future!

As with all my blogs and videos I’d love to hear how you’re getting on, so please do comment below, and if you’re stuck with anything, you’re most welcome to smash the ‘Contact Me‘ tab, and I’ll help in any way I can!

Thanks for checking this blog out, and I’ll see you soon for the next one

Until then. Have a good one, and I’ll see you again soon!
