On Soudley Ponds
On Soudley Ponds
On Soudley Ponds, is a tune I wrote a while ago, and this video shows the playback from my Sibelius score.
I used the Vienna Instruments versions of VSL’s wonderful ‘Special Editions’ Sample libraries and I have to admit, that I love them!
Soudley Ponds are found very close to the village of Soudley, snuggled in the beautiful countryside of the Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire. I’m very lucky to live here.
The area comprises four ponds linked together surrounded by the tallest Douglas Fir trees I think I have ever seen.
I have to say, that the place is stunning, no matter what the weather.
You can walk all around the ponds, taking in the scenery and enjoy the wildlife that lives there as it’s a site of special scientific interest and is now in the care of the Forestry Commission.
I highly recommend a visit, and just across the road is the Dean Heritage Centre, a lovely museum dedicated to the Forest of Dean, that has a wonderful little cafe! Have a lovely walk, then pop in for tea and cake. A perfect day out!.
As with my last video, the playback configuration is hosted in Vienna Ensemble Pro 7, and each instrument has VSL’s own EQ and Compressor plugin presets applied, along with an instance of their limited and exciter plugins, again with their own (slightly!) tweaked presets applied.
No additional EQ or effects have been applied, and no mixing has been done in a DAW (like Logic Pro X) for example.
A series of ponds stretching into beautiful woodlands. Very pretty scenery all year round, especially gorgeous in Autumn.
The playback is directly from Sibelius (Ultimate 2020.3)
If you’d like to use VSL and Sibelius, but need help setting everything up, don’t hesitate to contact me directly, or perhaps book a one-to-one, where we’ll go over everything together.
It’s a great way of me showing you exactly what you need to do to get started with these two pieces of amazing software!
Thanks so much for listening to “On Soudley Ponds” and for watching.
Please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you need help with anything.
