Sibelius Reverb Vs Liquid Sonics ‘Cinematic Rooms’

Today I thought I’d compare Sibelius Reverb Vs Liquid Sonics Reverbs with the exact same score! This tune uses NotePerformer and I’ve tweaked the playback using the included plugins, and now we are going to have a look at reverbs!

I’ve been asked a few times now to do a comparison between the inbuilt reverb and a 3rd party one, and as the choice of Reverbs on the market is, frankly huge…where to start? Well, seeing as I’ve done quite a lot on the site with Spaces II from EWQL, for this one I’ve chosen to use the Cinematic Rooms reverb available from Liquid Sonics!

I have to say that this reverb is superb!..it has hundreds of controls to tweak all the aspects of the reverb in your score, but as the Sibelius reverb doesn’t, I thought it only fair to just use a preset..straight out of the box without (ok with a tiny amount!) of tweaking!

I really like the inbuilt reverb Sibelius offers, and I find myself using it more and more as I really like the old world vibe it seems to have!

I’d love to know what you think, so please feel free to leave comments below!

This has surprised me, as I was expecting the Cinematic Rooms reverb to sound so much better than it does in this example. Do you think it’s worth me getting this over Spaces for example?

      Hi Ian.

It surprised me to if I’m honest, but I have to say that Cinematic Rooms can sound stunning…if you tweak the presents!…its so adjustable it wonderful, but for this blog I deliberately used a preset and hardly touched it..as there is no tweaking achievable with the inbuilt Sibelius reverb, save for turning the sends of each instrument up or down in the mixer, so it was as fair as I could make it..as I think lots of people underestimate quite how usable the inbuilt reverb really can be!

As for which one to get, perhaps the best thing to do is download some demos and see which one works for you!
